A participatory protest choreography created in the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi rape, in solidarity with protesters in India protesting sexual violence, and honoring victims/survivors. Conceived by Jaishri Abichandani and choreographed Parijat Desai, with members of SAWCC (South Asian Women’s Creative Collective/NYC).

PASSAGE

Site-specific dance theater performance exploring phases of human life, choreographed for the iconic ATMA building in Ahmedabad, India, designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. Performed as part of the Fanatika International Theatre Laboratory Festival.

AFTER OAK CREEK

A movement meditation created following the shooting of members of the Sikh community in Oak Creek, WI, to process the disorientation, grief, and anger and arrive at some degree of hope. Performed for Unification (a joint SA independence-day celebration of solidarity) in 2012, then expanded for Unification 2013, in honor of victims and survivors.

Parijat Desai Dance Company | Ensemble
From 2000 to 2013, Parijat created and performed with the Parijat Desai Dance Company (ensemble) creating works such as Thaka Dimi, The Wall, Rewired, Quiet/Fire, Songs To Live For, and Make Space. Information about those works of choreography forthcoming.
