Presidential Soul: A Virtual Presidential Inauguration Event
Soul Food historian Adrian Miller is throwing a special inauguration party following a historic election, featuring specially designed, diverse dinner options, delivered; performance; conversations with history-makers and writers, and a dance party. Also, a brief performance by Parijat Desai with Haitian-American Odissi dancer Taiis Pascal, called Can’t Take the Country Out Me,, celebrating our new VP Kamala Devi Harris.

Join an interactive info session with India Home to learn about Parijat Desai’s Low-Impact Exercise + Dance Classes. Check out a video showcasing Fall 2020 participants doing class choreography. And try out a few movements from her warmup and class. All genders and ages are welcome to try!

Dancemaker Parijat Desai invites 2 special guests to the party—Soul Food scholar Adrian Miller and political organizer Sahana Mehta—to talk about African American food histories, the reinvigorated BLM movement, and how we can act in solidarity. Prior to the convo, she’ll play a mix of Black and desi musical artists, some topical, some danceable, some both.
